For its 55th Annual Conference, the CEA is thrilled to announce a special collaboration with our colleagues at the SOUTH ASIAN LITERARY ASSOCIATION (SALA).
The CEA has a long tradition of partnering with organizations that share our commitment to teaching and scholarship, including the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW) and the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE).
Look at all you get!
Our theme for 2026 is DECLARATIONS, and we invite proposals for papers addressing DECLARATIONS in texts, disciplines, people, cultural studies, media, and pedagogy. Consider such topics as the implications of political declarations across time and place, cultural declarations of identity, declarations in the media (including social media) and how they impact society, pedagogical declarations of teaching philosophy and their implementation, or personal declarations through autobiography and memoir. (As always, our CEA conference also welcome submissions on a wide range of GENERAL TOPICS related to areas, including literary studies, creative writing, rhetoric, composition, technical communication, linguistics, and film.)
The South Asian Literary Association (SALA) was founded in the early 1970s to promote the knowledge of South Asia in the academy by bringing together interested faculty and students from around the globe to its annual conferences in the United States. Through the Association and its journal, The South Asian Review, SALA, promotes knowledge of, and scholarly interest in, the languages, cultures, and literatures of South Asia and the South Asian diaspora.
For 2026 their conference theme is, fittingly, COLLABORATIONS.
In light of global ethno-national tensions, the challenges of climate change, increasing disconnection after the COVID 19 pandemic, and other divisive moments, the aim of our 2026 SALA conference is to explore potential ideas and methods of “collaboration.”
