Since then, I have presented and moderated at conferences and was Program Chair in 2022. I am currently the Executive Director of CEA as well as a Professor of English at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I teach British literature and dabble in film adaptations of novels. I have 3 cats, am an avid fan of the Fort Wayne TinCaps minor league baseball team, and recently had a beer named after me at a local nanobrewery.

Since then, I've attended nearly every conference where I have presented on myriad topics from American Literature to Martha Stewart, to from pedagogy to photography. In addition to my work as an English Professor, I am a Holocaust Educator and have been a fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., the International School of Holocaust Studies at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel, and the Auschwitz Jewish Center in Oswiecim, Poland. At CEA, I've been a presenter, moderator, panel organizer, editor of The CEA Critic, and the CEA Historian. I am now Emeritus Professor of English at the University of Northern Colorado. Here I am with my fabulous dog AMOS, who attended CEA in Savannah as a pup.

I see myself as a teacher, scholar, and community servant. I have edited CCTE Studies for 23 years. My mixed-genre collection, Migratory Words, appeared in 2016. I have received the international South Asian Literary Association’s Distinguished Achievement Award, the College English Association Professional Achievement Award, and the Frances Hernández Teacher-Scholar Award by the Conference of College Teachers of English. I was recently awarded Tarleton’s College of Liberal and Fine Arts “Excellence in Scholarship” and “Engaged Faculty” Award. My other passion is music. My association with the CEA goes back to 1996, when I was pushed toward the organization's annual conference by my doctoral advisor, Dr. John Shawcross. Call his guidance a decisive check on the positive side of my life's ledger. Since then, I've attended just about every conference, and I eventually got involved with The CEA Critic as an editor, a position I continue to fill in my status as emeritus faculty with the University of Colorado/Boulder's Program for Writing and Rhetoric. It's not all reading and writing for me, though: the photo here is from Arapahoe Basin, a place I hope to continue skiing for many years to come.

My interests lie at the crossroads of journalism and African American literature and history. I've has been a member of the Florida CEA (FCEA) and CEA for more than a decade. I've held a variety of positions in both associations: for FCEA I was vice president for three years and conference coordinator for two of them, followed by two years as president, and one year as past president, and I've been a CEA board member for three years,

My research interests include feminist criticism, fatness studies, American literature, and antiracist pedagogy. When joining CEA in 2024, I felt warmly welcomed into a community of teacher-scholars who are eager to build connections and share their work cooperatively, rather than competitively. Now, I serve as a Director of the CEA's Social Media Committee--don't forget to tag us on socials before, during, and after our yearly conference! #CEA25

I am a grad student in Murray State University's Doctor of Arts program in English, Literature, & Pedagogy. I joined the CEA when my MSU advisor encouraged me to submit a proposal to the 2024 CEA Conference in Atlanta, near my hometown. As a grad student and a public high school teacher with no experience teaching at the college level, I was surprised by my proposal's acceptance. I found the CEA to be enthusiastically welcoming to grad students and teacher-scholars of all levels in addition to teachers of English at the post-secondary level. The information shared by the CEA through conferences and through the CEA Critic give me insight into the world my high school seniors will be entering as students as well as encouragement and scholarly camaraderie toward myself as a doctoral student. I currently help manage the CEA's social media by running our TikTok account (@CEAChatter) and am proud to serve as the Grad Student Liaison for the Board. I have been a public high school English teacher for 16 years and English Department Head for four of those years; in my free time I serve on the board of a nonprofit and volunteer with the activist group Free Mom Hugs.
Bio on the way!
I first encountered CEA at a statewide affiliate conference back in 2012 and have enjoyed attending and presenting at conferences ever since. It's a wonderful association with collegial folks who have great senses of humor. I am in my 15th year at Anderson University -- the one in Indiana, not South Carolina :) -- where I'm an Associate Professor teaching composition, Language Arts methodology, and YA Lit.
I am an Associate Professor of English, as well as a student of Chinese language and literatures, who joined the faculty of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania in 2005. I teach postcolonial, British, and other world literatures, along with graphic novel, linguistics, literary criticism and theory, biblical and other religious literatures, and composition. Currently, I serve on the Board of Directors of the College English Association, as well as Past President of the South Asian Literary. My research interests include conversations among literatures of South Asia and neighboring or otherwise in-contact regions.
I am an Associate Professor of English at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Note how surprisingly young I look for my age. I channel my youthful curiosity into researching animal representations in literature and Digital Humanities. Not one to be bored, I got aboard with the Board of Directors of CEA, and also serve on the Graduate Committee and the Allied Organizations Committee. I am also Veep at the South Asian Literary Association and Executive Secretary and Treasurer for the Conference of College Teachers of English (Texas). And I love my cat, Minu.
I have been a member of CEA since 2013 and fell in love with the organization when I first attended the conference in Baltimore in 2014. I was an adjunct for many years, and I credit my ability to transition from adjunct to full-time to CEA. If it was not for their guidance and mentorship, I would not be where I am today as the Composition Coordinator at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX. I teach composition, sophomore level literature, and advanced professional writing and communication courses. I live in San Antonio with my wonderful husband and two daughters.

I am a Professor of English at Nazareth University in Rochester, NY, where I teach courses in American and Latinx literatures as well as writing courses. Over the years, I have served as Director of the Honors Program, as well as the College Writing Program, and I served as department chair for two terms. My research focuses on issues of identity construction, diaspora and displacement, and exile within Cuban-American literary production. I was first introduced to the CEA by my dissertation director, Dr. Fred L. Standley, who encouraged me to attend my first CEA conference in Baltimore in 1997--and I was immediately hooked! Since then I have been a long-standing participant at the CEA, delivering papers on Latinx literature and moderating various panels. I was also awarded the Robert Hacke Scholar-Teacher Award in 2000 and was honored to serve as the CEA’s Diversity Luncheon speaker twice. I first served as a member of the CEA’s Board of Directors (2007-09), contributing to the work of the Diversity and Graduate Paper Committees. Since 2008, I have enjoyed serving the CEA as the Special Topics Chair in Latinx Literature. I am excited to be working, once again, with such highly dedicated and hard-working colleagues on the Board.
I'm an Associate Professor of English at the University of TN at Chattanooga where I teach courses on verse, Victorian literature, and disability. I’ve been attending the CEA annual conference for almost a decade now. What I like most about the organization is how it celebrates what we do as teacher-scholars. We're living in an anti-intellectual age. It’s reasonable to think that the sky is falling. Even so, CEA members exude the joy and curiosity that brought us to this discipline in the first place. That energy is infectious, and I’m grateful for it.
